Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta are consolidated as one of the top touristic golf destinations. El Tigre Golf & Country Club is one of the most visited by locals and tourists, for its excellent service and hospitality. It has also hosted several national and international tournaments such as the Canadian Tour, LPGA Futures, The Mexican Tour, and The Mexicana Youth Tour.

The designers: Von Hagge, Smelek and Baril, accepted the challenge to "create the most exciting golf course for worldwide tournaments in Mexico" and thus created a 7,239 yards course. The experience begins when you enter the place, transporting the player into the ancient Mayan world, meeting at the center with the El Tigre Club House, offering visitors a spectacular view in all directions.

This course is described as one of the most difficult in Mexico, but it still offers a pleasant experience for the amateur or beginner golfers. It is an 18 hole par 72 course; and its difficulty increases in the afternoons due to strong wind from the Banderas Bay. The 18th hole (hcp 4) is not considered the most difficult, but it is a challenge to climb in 5 strokes. By having the par 3, the difficulty of these 4 holes makes it perfectly complicated for professional golf tournaments.
